Hardy annual. DTM 70-80.

Annual Clary Sage is a versatile filler flower that is easy to grow. This variety is valued for its coloured bracts rather than the flowers themselves; the colour of White Swan is a soft ivory-white and is a popular choice for use in classic green and white colour palettes.

Sow Feb-May or Aug-Sept to overwinter for flowers the following year. Sowing temp 15-18°C. Cover sparingly as light aids germination which takes 7-14 days in optimum conditions. Plant out into a position in full sun for the best colour.

Cut when the bracts are fully coloured and place straight into water and move to a cool place; no special conditioning required. If cutting for drying, wait until the stems have hardened (try the wiggle test to make sure they are fully rigid before cutting). Bunch and hand upside down to dry in a dark place to retain the best colour.

Vase life: 7-10 days
