Annual phlox has quickly become a favourite cut flower for wedding and event florists. The aptly named Blushing Bride has creamy-white blooms flushed through with blush pink. Every stem produces a head of many tiny, scented blooms that are an ideal addition summer and autumn floral displays. The plants bloom over a long period in summer and autumn - the more you cut, the more stems are produced!
Sow Feb-May. Sow at 18-21°C; germination will take 14-21 days in optimum conditions. Cover completely as dark is required for successful germination. Plants require support, preferably with something they can grow up through such as horizontal support as plants can be floppy.
Cut when 30-50% of flowers on the head are open. Strip the lower leaves and place into shallow water to hydrate for 4-6 hours before use. No special conditioning requirements.
Vase life: 10-14 days.
