Common name: Forget-me-not
Untreated seed; this variety is packed by volume so all pack quantities are approximate. Available in two pack sizes:
Gardener packet 25 seeds; Grower packet 100 seeds.
Biennial. Requires a period of vernalisation (overwintering) prior to blooming.
We are delighted to have been able to source this spring-blooming variety of forget-me-not which has been specially bred for cut flower production by Japanese breeders. The stems are slightly longer and thicker than the typical forget-me-not, with slightly larger flowers on the stem. An essential addition to your spring flower selection, these dainty white-flowered blooms will be the most sought after flowers for spring arrangements!
Depending on location, sow April-June; biennial varieties should be sown by midsummer at the latest to ensure a good show of flowers in the following season. Sow at 20-22°C; do not cover when sowing as light will aid germination which should take 7-21 days in optimum conditions. Plant out from mid to late summer; plants should develop a robust root system before the onset of winter, and flowering will occur in April in the following year (if grown outside).
Plants can be grown under protection or outside in beds - they require well-drained soil and a sunny position. Leaves may go brown through the winter months; don't worry, this is normal and the plant will green up again once the temperature starts to rise in early spring. No pinching required.
Cut when 25-30% of flowers on the head are open. Cut early at the coolest timeof the day, strip the lower leaves and place straight into water; stems may require bunching to prevent bending whilst hydrating.
Vase life: 7 days
