Daucus is an umbel that is a magnet for pollinating insects. The blooms cover a colour range from white and blush through to maroon and burgandy. Plants are prolific, and the seed heads are great for drying.

Sow Feb-May or Aug-Sep for overwintering for flowers in the next year. Sowing temp 15-18°C; pre-chill seed for 2 weeks prior to sowing to aid germination which takes 14-21 days.

Cut when 50-75% of the inflorescence is open and pollen has not yet started to shed; stems cut in bud will not hydrate properly. Place immediately into water in a cool position; no special conditioning required.

Vase life: 7-10 days
