Hardy Perennial.
Briza media is a beautiful perennial grass that flowers early in the season. The flowering stems stand emerge above the leaves to a height of 90cm, and are covered with tiny, nodding heart-shaped spikelets - they are perfect to use in meadow, or wildflower-style floral arrangements. It is a slow growing variety, but once plants are established they will bring light and movement to garden borders and floral displays. It is also a versatile dried flower.
Multi-sow seed into cells in a module tray or sow direct into the garden. Sowing temp 15-18°C. Germination can be erratic. Plants can be slow to establish, but clumps can be divided in spring to increase plant stock. This variety will tolerate dappled shade; requires moist but free-draining soil.
Cut as soon as the spikelets have formed. Place into water; no special conditioning requirements. Can be left upright or hung upside down to dry.
Vase life: 10-14 days; lasts indefinitely once dried.
