Hardy annual. DTM 65-75

Similar to malope, annual Lavatera has large, trumpet-shaped blooms on long, straight stems.

Sow Feb-May or Aug-Sep if overwintering for an early crop the following year. Sowing temp 18-21°C; germination between 7-14 days in optimum conditions. Pinch to encourage branching.

Cut when the bud reach the pencil stage, just as the coloured flower petals emerge from the bud, but before the petals fully open and the flower is pollinated. Place immediately into water in a cool place; no special conditioning required. 

Vase life: 7-10 days.
