French marigolds are perhaps not a typical choice for a cut flower, but this variety has been one of Cel's favourites on the flower farm for years! Burning Embers has slightly longer 50cm stems, and it's the perfect colour for late season arrangements. They last well in the vase too, with buds opening to continue the display over a number of days. Brilliant in the garden and a magnet for pollinators.

Sow under cover four weeks before your last frost date; sow outside after the risk of frost has passed. Sowing temp 18-21°C; germination between 5-10 days in optimum conditions. Plant out into a sunny position. Pinch to encourage branching and to lengthen stems; the plants will continue to produce blooms throughout the autumn if they are dead-headed.

Cut when the bud cracks and the petals are just beginning to open for the longest vase life. Place immediately into water and move to a cool spot to condition; no special conditioning required.

Vase life: 7-9 days
