They are a recent introduction to UK gardens and cut-flower farms. A member of the buttercup family, the Romance series feature large blooms packed with multi-layered petals, strong stems and excellent disease resistance. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA cool-season flower, ranunculus produce early spring crops when grown under cover from an autumn planting; bulbs can be started off in late winter for planting into the garden for flowers in late spring\/early summer. Plants grown under cover overwinter will produce higher quality blooms in spring with much longer stem length than plants grown outside. Plants grown outside will need protection from frost and inclement weather conditions.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe plants grow from bulbs which are called \u003cem\u003eclaws\u003c\/em\u003e; these are supplied to growers in early autumn. Pre-sprout claws before planting out; make sure to plant the large claws spikey points down! Protect from rodents who love to eat the bulbs. Planting density: 16 plants\/m2.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCutting stage: \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eWhen the bud casing has opened and the bloom is starting to open; the flower head should feel soft and give like a marshmallow when gently squeezed.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eConditioning: Straight into cool water, no special conditioning required.
